Forsberg Rallies for 10th Place Finish at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting caught up in a lap-11 incident on Saturday night, Andy Forsberg was able to charge from the back of the pack to record a 10th place finish during the 25-lap feature event at Placerville Speedway.

“We timed in pretty well for when we went out, and that set us up for the rest of the night,” Forsberg said. “In the feature we were cruising around in the Top-5, and a car stopped heading into three, so I went high to give the guy next to me some room and ended up getting high-centered and spinning out.”

With 29 cars checked in at Placerville Speedway, Forsberg would get off to a good start on this night as he timed the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in third fastest in time trials.

Finishing fourth in his heat race after lining up fourth, Forsberg’s time would lock him into the redraw where the four pill would place him in the second row for the 25-lap feature event.

On the slicked off racing surface, Forsberg would go to work on the thick cushion that had built up on both ends of the speedway. Working inside the Top-Five, Forsberg would find himself running in the fifth position when the caution flag flew on the 11th lap.

With a car stalled in turns three, Forsberg would jump high to leave room for another car, but as he went high, he would get high centered on the cushion and hit would spin his machine out and force him to the back of the pack.

Taking advantage of the double file restart, Forsberg would make a big jump on the restart and find himself back in the Top-15 in matter of laps. Continuing to fight forward, Forsberg would get into 11th where it looked like he would finish.

A restart would two-to-go would give him one final chance to make up some ground, and he would do just that as he just got the 10th spot coming to the checkered flag.

“If something stupid can be done, I have figured out how to do it this year,” Forsberg said. “I have gone up over the edge of the track 100 times in my career and never had that happen, but low and behold it did on Saturday. Looking forward to a busy weekend and hoping we can put on a show on the 4th of July.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank C&H Motor Parts, Bushey Financial Services, PitStopUSA, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, CRV Carbon Solutions, All Pro Heads, and Engler for their support in 2021.
