PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night in Marysville, CA, Andy Forsberg simply never gave up. On a rough and tricky racing surface, the Auburn, CA driver would see issues knock him out of the second spot, but after a trip to the work area he worked his way back to a third place finish.

“The track was hooked up and rough, and we were pretty fast,” Andy Forsberg said. “We got off to a good start, but I ended up bicycling and packing the front end with mud and coming into the work area.”

Looking to defend his 2016 triumph at the Toller Memorial, Forsberg got off to a great start aboard the C&M Motorsports No. 7c machine as he laid down the fastest lap during qualifying time trials. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Forsberg would finish in the second spot making his PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/Pacific Highway Rentals entry eligible for the redraw.

The six-pill would put Forsberg in the third row for the feature event, but with a car falling out of the race prior to green would see the PT Shocks/Swartz Diesel/Velocity Race Gear machine take the green from the fourth starting spot.

When the race came to life, Forsberg would settle into the third spot as he worked his way around a rough speedway. Able to work under Tony Gualda for the second spot, Forsberg would then chase after the early leader.

Forsberg would run into early trouble as he hooked a treacherous rut his turns one and two and bicycled his entry. Able to keep the car on all fours, Forsberg would pack the front end full of a ribbon of Marysville clay and be unable to steer his machine and coast to a stop.

Getting to dirt cleared out in the work area, Forsberg would return to action though he would be mired in the back of the field. Now dealing with congestion as well as the tricky surface, ‘Mr. Excitement’ would thrill the crowd with wheelies and more bikes as he clawed his way forward.

Keeping his nose clean in the final laps, Forsberg would complete a very impressive charge through the field to finish third at the stripe.

“Cody and the guys gave me a fast car and we had some fun working on an old school, hooked up track,” Forsberg added. “We certainly would have liked to start our season like we started last years and won this race, but we this car is very strong again, and I am excited for the year ahead.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
