PETERSEN MEDIA: Closing out the 2017 calendar year during the biggest race of the year, the Tulsa Shootout, Garth Kasiner added some wow factor to the event as he charged from his 17th starting position to finish third during Sunday night’s 20-lap feature event.

Amidst a 2017 season that saw the Five Points, CA driver accumulate 20 feature event wins, Kasiner showed up to Tulsa, OK looking to bring a Golden Driller back to the West Coast.

Lining up eighth in his heat race after a tough pill draw, Kasiner made an early statement at the River Sprit Expo Center in Tulsa, OK as he had his West Hills Oil/CS9/Security Race Products No. 21G entry on rails as he was able to carve his way forward and score the win.

Moving into a qualifier, Kasiner would grid the field in the fourth starting position, and things would not go his way, as he would end up finishing in the eighth spot, which forced him into a ‘B’ Main and made it a long road to battle for a coveted Golden Driller Trophy.

Lining up on the pole of his semi, Kasiner would leave no doubt he would still be a force as he we was able to pick up the win aboard his Roger Vogt’s Performance Auto & Air/Irritec P1 Drip Tape/Keizer Wheels backed entry and advance to the 12-lap Last Chance Qualifier.

Gridding the field from the second row of the LCQ, Kasiner would need to stay inside the Top-8 if he wanted to advance to the feature event. Able to get by Shawn Mahaffey and Wyatt Siegel, Kasiner would pick up the win and earn his starting position in the championship finale.

Though starting deep in the field, Kasiner knew he had a strong hot rod under him after picking up wins in the star studded semi, and LCQ. From his 17th starting position, the King of CA Champion, did the Golden State proud as he carved through traffic with precision.

Getting around the ¼ mile speedway very well, Kasiner would work his way up into the third position late in the race as he chased after fellow Californian, Corey Day, and second running Chase Randall.

Giving it a valiant effort in the closing laps, Kasiner’s Tulsa Shootout would come to an end with a brilliant third place run that earned him the Donnie Ray Crawford Hard Charger Award.
