PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending his weekend competing at Plaza Park Speedway and Delta Speedway, Garth Kasiner would surge to a third place finish on Friday night before an issue on a late restart relegated him to a 10th place finish.
Friday night things kicked off at Plaza Park Speedway in Visalia, CA where the Five Points, CA driver opened the weekend up by timing the West Hills oil/CS9/SRP backed No. 21g machine in fifth fastest.
Picking up the win during heat race competition, Kasiner would line the Roger Vogt’s Performance Auto & Air/Irritec P1 Drop Tape/Keizer Wheels machine up in the seventh spot for the 25-lap feature event.
On a very racy Plaza Park Speedway, Garth ‘Vader’ would get into fifth in the race’s opening laps before he found the cushion and went to work on the leaders.
Driving around his competitor to get into fourth, Kasiner would show some veteran savvy on the next lap as he would drop low and slide up to take over the third spot. Continuing to go to work on the cushion, Kasiner would start to fight his engine that began to act up. Slowing his pace a little in the closing laps, Kasiner would still hang on to finish on the podium.
Saturday night the scene shifted to Delta Speedway. Timing in seventh fastest in time trials, Kasiner would again take care of business and pick up the heat race win but would again find himself in the seventh starting spot for the feature event.
With most the entire field using the bottom of the speedway, Kasiner would try the top in the first few laps, but with nothing upstairs he would drop back to the moisture.
Working his way up to the fifth spot on a track that was extremely hard to pass on, Kasiner would look to take advantage on the race’s lone restart with just two laps to go.
Diving under the fourth place car, contact would ensue and Kasiner would be relegated to the back of the pack in front of the cars that were a lap down. When the race came to a close, Kasiner would bring home a 10th place finish.
