Great Night Goes Sour For Cole Macedo

PETERSEN MEDIA- Friday night at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA, Cole Macedo came within one lap of clean sweeping the night. A wild last lap of the feature event saw Macedo endure a massive hit to the turn four wall as he was officially scored 12th.

“We had such a good night going, but unfortunately it ended in a bit of a disaster,” Cole Macedo said. “I tried to be a hero in the last corner after getting slid for the lead, and I ended up getting tight, getting over the cushion and slamming into the wall outside of turn four.”

Macedo was stout all night long. When the night got underway, the Lemoore, CA driver earned quick time honors in the Tarlton and Son Inc./Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions backed No. 21 entry.

Racing his way to a win in his heat race, Macedo earned the pole for the six-lap Dash as a reward for being the fast time qualifier as well as winning his heat.

Leading all six-laps of the Dash, Macedo was locked into the pole for the impending 30-lap feature event, where he sought after this third win of the 2024 season.

When the race came to life, Macedo was hard on the throttle as he jumped out front and began to set a nice pace on the 3/8 mile facility. Working his way into traffic, Macedo had a close call as contact in traffic caused a big of damage to his entry but he was able to continue on.

With the damage causing some handling issues, Macedo held on and wrestled his Drew Warner prepared car the best he could as he continued to lead the way.

Taking the white flag as the race leader, Macedo close in on a slower car, and this allowed Tanner Holmes to sneak by and take the race lead.

Chasing Holmes into turns three and four, Macedo kept his machine on the high-side of the speedway as he had hopes of riding his momentum to the win, but his plan did not come to fruition. His battered machine got tight on the cushion and shot him into the turn four call making hard contact.

Though he was able to climb out of the wreckage, Macedo was a little banged up as he officially was credited with a 12thplace finish.

“It was just a bummer way to end a really good night,” Macedo said. “I hate that I destroyed a really fast car, but I have all the confidence that we will bounce back this weekend in Chico, CA and Antioch, CA. Thanks to all of the great people who continue to support this race team.”
