PETERSEN MEDIA- Even on nights where he does not land in victory lane, Greg DeCaires is still in contention for the race win, and the same was true on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway where ‘The Catfish’ score a runner up finish.

“It was one of those nights where you needed to get the jump at the start of the race, or hope for a mistake and it just did not work out for us,” DeCaires said.

Checking in at the Placerville Speedway for another night of Championship Point Racing, DeCaires would get his night started off by timing the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Foothill 7 TV/RedHawk Casino No. 4SA machine in fifth fastest.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Elk Grove, CA ace jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back as he picked up the win aboard his Halk Equipment Rentals/Naake Suspension/A.R.T. entry.

Pulling the one-pill in the redraw, DeCaires would line his machine up on the pole alongside Andy Gregg. With the low-line being the preferred line for drivers on this night, DeCaires was in a nice spot, however he would not get the jump out of turn four he was looking for as he settled into the second spot.

Working the bottom of the speedway with his Wesmar Racing Engines power, patiently getting through lapped traffic, DeCaires would take a couple of shots and Gregg following restarts, but would not find any room to get around the leader as he took a second place finish.

“We have been a consistent team, and I am happy with another Top-Two finish,” DeCaires said. “We will take a week off and come back and see if we can’t get one spot better.”

Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Foothill 7 TV, RedHawk Casino, Halk Equipment Rentals, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, Hangtown Sheet Metal and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 11, Wins- 5, Top-5’s-11, Top-10’s-11

ON TAP: DeCaires and the Miller Motorsports team will take a week off before returning to the Placerville Speedway for another night of Championship point racing.
