PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night in Placerville, CA, Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would again battle up front as they picked up a third place finish on the slick ¼ mile Placerville Speedway.

“I would have loved to have made it three-in-a-row, and we gave it our all with a pretty stout field in the house,” Greg DeCaires said.

With the track going slick earlier than normal on this night, lane choice would be key in time trials to get off to a good start with 28 cars checked in the pit area.

Able to time the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Thompson’s Auto Center/RedHawk Casino backed No. 4SA machine in fourth fastest, the Elk Grove, cA driver would line up in the second row of his heat race.

Getting the job done during his heat race, DeCaires would race his way to the win. By way of the victory, DeCaires would earn a spot in the nightly redraw where the three-pill would put him in the second row for the 25-lap affair.

With new track equipment on scene Saturday night, the Russell Motorsports, Inc. team went to work on the surface hoping to provide drivers and teams multiple grooves for the feature event.

Getting shown the green flag, DeCaires would stick to the bottom of the speedway in the opening laps as he took over the second spot and began a long pursuit of race leader, Mason Moore.

As the race moved along the track would open up a little bit, though DeCaires would continue to work the bottom as the leader was clear in his sights. In the final six-laps, DeCaires would see Andy Forsberg get a run going on the high side of the speedway, and he too would then try to make something happen as time was running out.

Unable to make as much grip while working the cushion, DeCaires would lose second to Matt Peterson in the final laps as he would fend of Jimmy Trulli to capture the final spot on the podium at the stripe.

“We ran second most of the race, but I had to try something,” DeCaires said. “I changed my line and it didn’t work out. Thanks to the guys on the team for all they do.”

Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Thompson’s Auto Center, RedHawk Casino, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, King Racing Products, Smith Titanium, Amerikote, Motion Media Wraps, Hangtown Sheet Metal & Fabrication, Vortex Wings, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, El Dorado Hills Landscape, and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.
