PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing aboard the C&M Motorsports No. 7C for one final time in 2017, Tony Gualda would fight hard during the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s season finale until a part failure late in the feature event ended his season a few laps early.

“It didn’t quite go as we all had hoped,” Tony Gualda said. “I didn’t get our night started very well in time trials and I had to play catch up the rest of the night. Luckily Cody and the guys gave me a really good car and we were able to work our way into the feature.”

Timing the Moorefield Construction/PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness backed No. 7c in fifth quickest in his time trials group, Gualda would line up in the third row of his heat race.

Battling for the final heat race transfer position, Gualda would finish in the fifth spot which would force him into the 15-lap ‘B’ main. Lining up seventh in the semi, Gualda would need to pick up a few positions as just the Top-Six finishers would continue on with their nights.

Fighting hard in the semi, Gualda would show a never give up attitude as he worked his way into a transfer position. On a fast racing surface, the Hollister, CA driver would finish fifth and make his way into the final SCCT feature event of the 2017 season.

Lining up 21st on the starting grid for the feature event, Gualda would do a nice job of making headway on a relatively narrow racing surface. In a fast paced opening 16 laps, the young gasser would work his way up to the 16th position when the race’s first caution flew.

On a restart, Gualda would have some help getting up off the racing surface and as he was shuffled to the back he would have a rear end failure on the 25th lap and it would bring his night to an early end.

“I really have to thank Cody and Mandi for the opportunity to driver for them this year,” Gualda added. “Looking forward to regrouping this off season and coming back strong for next year.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, Moorefield Construction, Inc., PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Alturas Tires, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
