PETERSEN MEDIA- One night after putting on a charge in the semi and racing into the feature at Placerville Speedway, Tony Gualda put on another charge in the Sunday night feature event at Petaluma Speedway that saw him net a sixth place finish to cap a Sprint Car Challenge Tour double-header weekend.

“Cody and all these guys gave me a great car all weekend long,” Tony Gualda said. “Saturday night we had a tough start to the night but bounced back ran through the semi to make the main before some bad luck, and Sunday night we were really good and came from 18th to finish sixth on a hooked up track.”

Timing the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No.7C second fastest in his group, Gualda would line up in the second row of his heat race. Enduring some contact when the heat came to life, Gualda would get upside down and the damage would force him back to the trailer and into the ‘B’.

Lining up 13th it the ‘B’, Gualda’s back looked to be against the wall. A little dejected, the youngster would get his elbows up and keep his night alive as he carved his way forward and finished in third, which moved him into the 35-lap “A” main.

Lining up 23rd on the field, Gualda would begin to work his way forward on the extremely slick Placerville Speedway surface. Cracking the Top-15, another issue would collect Gualda and it was cut his night short.

Regrouping, Gualda and C&M Motosrpots follow the SCCT to Petaluma Speedway for a special Sunday night show as part of an unofficial Nor-Cal speedweek.

Timing in fifth quickest in his time trial group, Gualda would finish fifth in his heat race and transfer directly into the 35-lap feature event on what was a heavy and hooked up Petaluma Gumbo surface.

Lining up 18th on the starting grid, Gualda would come alive on a track that would be tough to make up ground on. Laying it all on the line, Gualda would make some daring moves that saw him work into the Top-10.

Taking advantage of some late restarts, Gualda would cap his impressive run from the back with a hard fought sixth place finish.

“Sunday night Cody and my guys gave me a fast car as per usual,” Gualda added. “I have to thank all of them for all of their hard work. Looking forward to a mid week race on the fourth.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will return to action on Wednesday night at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-14, Wins-0, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-8.
