PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Tony Gualda overcame an early set back in the feature event to tally his tenth Top-10 of the season as he took the checkered flag with a sixth place finish.

“Cody and everyone again gave me an awesome racecar, but an early issue forced us to the tail end of the field but we were still able to fight all the way back to sixth,” Tony Gualda said.

Looking to continue a strong month at Placerville Speedway, Gualda got his night kicked off on the right foot as he timed the Moorefied Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto parts/PitStopUSA No. 7c entry in third fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the fourth starting position for his heat race, the Hollister, CA native would make his way forward on the strength of a great start as he would get into second, where he would finish, and earn a berth in the redraw.

Pulling the seven, Gualda would take the green flag from the seventh starting position on a very well prepared racing surface following some pre race track prep by the Russell Motorsports Inc. staff.

When the race came to life, Gualda would began to charge toward the top-five until a car would get out of shape in front of him. Trying to avoid any issues, Gualda would attempt to go around him but subtle contact would cause damage to a radius rod and he would make his way to the work area.

Restarting from the 20th starting position, the re worked surface would play into Gualda’s favor as he was able to work his way back forward and get into the mix late in the race with help from several stoppages.

Late in the race Gualda would find himself battling with Andy Forsberg and Shane Hopkins as they dueled for top-five position. A couple of late restarts would shake things up, though Gualda would still manage to hang on to finish sixth despite a tough start to the feature event.

“I think we had a car that was good enough to be on the podium and contend for the win, but unfortunately things happen,” Gualda added. “I have to thank Cody and Mandi for continuing to support me as well as all the guys who lend helping hands week to week. We will keep digging and try again this weekend back up there.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports return to racing action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
