PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite having to go to a back up engine early in the night on Saturday, Tony Gualda and C&M Motorsports would rally to pocket an eighth place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Stockton Dirt Track.

“Our night got off to a tough start as we hurt an engine in hot laps,” Tony Gualda said. “Everyone worked extremely hard to get it changed and we got one lap at the end of qualifying but made it count, and our night was off and running.”

Following an early engine change, Gualda would lay down a great lap in time trials considering the circumstances as he timed the Moorefield Construction Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c entry in sixth quickest in his qualifying group.

Taking the green flag from the third row of his heat race, Gualda would put turn in a very impressive run as he was able to grab a second place finish and punch his ticket directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Gridding the field from the 14th starting position, Gualda would do an excellent job of working his way forward on a tricky surface. Quickly jumping up into the 10th spot, Gualda would have one little hiccup that saw him slip back to 14th on the fifth lap.

Running in a tight pack of cars, the Hollister, CA driver would keep his nose to the grindstone as he worked his way back into the Top-10. Getting back into 10th at the halfway point, Gualda would keep working on a track that was a little tough to make up ground on.

Getting into ninth on the race’s 17th circuit, Gualda would jump up to seventh with 10-to-go.

In seventh, Gualda and Andy Forsberg would hook up in an entertaining battle that saw them exchange the position numerous times. Taking the white flag in seventh, Gualda would lose the spot coming to the checkered flag though still capped his night off with an eighth place finish.

“I really have to thank Cody and Mandy for everything,” Gualda added. I also have to thank Rich, MF, and Matt for working hard and getting a fast race car ready for me.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: C&M Motorsports and Tony Gualda will be back in action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA as the track is set to open it’s weekly point season.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2.
