PETERSEN MEDIA- Tony Gualda will be the first to tell you that Saturday was an eventful night. Despite a lot of action, and some misfortune the Hollister, CA driver would show a lot of resolve as he picked up a 10th place finish aboard the C&M Motorsports machine.

“There was a lot going on Saturday night,” Tony Gualda said with a smile. “We had a fast car all night long, some things didn’t go our way, I made some mistakes, but my guys gave me a good enough car that I was able to overcome them and still finish 10th.”

Gualda got his night off to a great start as he timed the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c machine in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

From the second row of his heat race, the Hollister, CA youngster would make some big moves that saw him jump out to the race lead. Out in front, Gualda would spin his machine out in turns one and two, but contact from another car would re-fire his machine and he would continue to hold the top spot.

Picking up the win, Gualda would punch his ticket into the 25-lap feature event and also earn himself a spot in the Top-Eight redraw to set the first four rows of the feature event.

The three-pill place Gualda in the second row for the feature event, and when the race came to life he would find himself on the bottom of the speedway. Getting out of shape as he hooked the infield berm, Gualda would lose several positions as he fell back to 10th.

Working his way back through the field, Gualda would claw his way back up to seventh before contact with another car on the 14th lap would see his machine spin to a stop and force him to the work area.

Making his way back to the racing surface, Gualda would turn in some strong laps to close the race as he clawed his way back to finish 10th in the feature event.

“My guys really worked hard all night long, and we should of finished better,” Gualda said. “We will reset and get back to Placerville this weekend and try again.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports are set to return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
