PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing aboard the Mason Moore Racing No. 22 machine on Wednesday night to take on the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, Mason Moore would be involved in an early heat race wreck that would unfortunately wreak havoc on the rest of his night.
“It was kind of chaotic on the start of our heat race and it resulted in us getting upside down,” Moore said. “We were able to get it fixed and make a run in the B, but we came up short. The unfortunate thing was once we got back to the shop we noticed a pretty good sized bend in the frame so it ended our week in the 22.”
Timing the Coors Light/Geico Local Office/Econo Lube –n- Tune & Brakes backed no. 22 entry in 12th fastest in his qualifying flight, Moore would line up in the third row of his heat race.
When the race came to life, chaos in turns one and two would lead to a car cutting across the nose of Moore’s entry and he would get upside down.
Able to get the bolt on parts fixed for the Last Chance Showdown, Moore would line up in the second row of the 12 lap affair looking to punch his ticket into the big show.
On the slick surface, Moore’s machine would simply be a handful, and he would fall back well out of a transfer position and his night would come to an end.
“It didn’t make sense at the time why we struggled so bad, but like I said, we found some more broken stuff when we got home so that definitely played a role,” Moore added. “I have to thank my guys for their hard work, and our partners for continuing to back us.”
