PETERSEN MEDIA- Against a loaded field of cars on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Shane Hopkins would make feature against the Sprint Car Challenge Tour during the Salue to the Fans events.

“Saturday night was good,” Shane Hopkins said. “It was a tough field of cars, we made the feature out of our heat and had a good run. Thanks to all my guys for all of their hard work.”

Timing the Moxie Mechanical/Morrison Concrete/TNT Powdercoat No. 97 machine in third fastest in his qualifying time trials, Hopkins would grid the field from the front row for heat race action.

Slipping back to third when the race came to life, Hopkins would soon find himself battling with DJ Netto for position. Going back and forth with Netto, Hopkins would end up taking the fourth position when the checkered flag waived.

Transferring directly into the feature event, Hopkins would line up in the 15th starting position on a very slick Placerville Speedway racing surface. On the slick surface, Hopkins would jump into 14th and settle in as the track would start to turn abrasive.

Continuing to hit his marks during the 35-lap affair, Hopkins would take the checkered flag in the 14th spot as the team then turned their attention to Petaluma Speedway on Sunday.

Capping a Sprint Car Challenge Tour Double Header weekend off at Petaluma Speedway Sunday night, Hopkins would time in eighth quickest in his group on a very hooked up Petaluma Speedway racing surface.

After time trials, Hopkins night would start to get a little rough. Having nose wing issues in his heat race, Hopkins would finish eighth and be forced into the semi main.

Moving into the semi on the hooked up and heavy surface, Hopkins would endure some suspension issues that would make his ‘B’ tough. Hanging on as best as he could, Hopkins would close his weekend out with a 10th place finish in the ‘B’.

“Sunday night was a rough one,” Hopkins said. “We just had a couple part failures and it really hindered us. My guys worked hard to get us fixed each time, and I have to thank them for working so hard over the weekend.”

Hopkins and Moxie Motorsports would like to thank Moxie Mechanical, Morrison Concrete, TNT Powdercoat, LRB Ent., ADCO Driveline, C&H Veteran Enterprises, Soares Motorsports, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Capital Ace Hardware, Johnson Motorsports, American River Overhead, Americote Painting, Gary Morgan Graphics, and ART Enterprises for their support in 2018.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-13, Wins-0, Top-5’s-1, Top 10’s-3

ON TAP- Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday night for the Fourth of July special in Placerville, CA.
