Hopkins Lands on Petaluma Speedway Podium

PETERSEN MEDIA- Building off of a Top-5 at Marysville Raceway on June 14th, Shane Hopkins bettered himself on Sunday night at Petaluma Speedway and finished third behind Sean Becker and Andy Forsberg.

“Petaluma has been one of those places that I have been pretty fast at early in the night, and ended up having pretty bad luck, so to lead laps, and run third to Becker and Forsberg is a pretty good night for our team,” Shane Hopkins said.

With the track hosting its first winged sprint car race of the season, Hopkins would spend Father’s Day with his dad at the track. Timing the High Sierra Industries/Interstate Oil Company/C&H Motor Parts backed No. 21 machine in seventh fastest in time trials, the Placerville, CA driver would find himself on the front row of his heat race.

Pulling the one pill in the redraw, Hopkins would lead the field to green on the hooked-up Petaluma Speedway ‘Gumbo’. Looking strong out front, Hopkins would lead the way for the first 10-laps before Sean Becker used a restart to wrestle the lead away from him.

Running in second, Hopkins would then feel pressure from Andy Forsberg, before falling back to third on the 14thcircuit.

Trailing two of the winningest non-regulars at Petaluma Speedway, Hopkins would keep pace with them as traffic would seemingly be the only way to slow the leaders.

With a light car count on hand, traffic would ultimately be non-existent, and Hopkins would cap his night off with a third-place finish.

“It was a little different than I’m used to, but I was pleased with the decisions that we made,” Hopkins said. “Looking forward to getting a few races in this week and hoping we can continue this trend.”

Hopkins would like to thank High Sierra Industries, Interstate Oil Company, C&H Motor Parts, ARP, ADCO, Anrak, C&H Veteran Enterprises, Brian Sperry Racing, Capitol ACE Hardware, King’s Meats, LRB, Gary Morgan Graphics, Jake Morgan Racing, Johnson Motorsports, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Image Salon and Spa, PT Shocks, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Kyle Johnson Racing, and Petersen Media for their support in 2020.
