PETERSEN MEDIA- Kicking the West Coast World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series swing off in Las Vegas, NV on Wednesday and Thursday night, Ian Madsen would put a tough opening night behind him as he advanced from 16th to 11th during Thursday night’s Sin City finale.

“It was a so-so week,” Madsen explained. “Wednesday we had some mechanical gremlins get us in the feature, and Thursday our heat race set us back a little. Luckily we had a pretty good car, and we were able to recover and fight our way to an eleventh place finish.”

Madsen kicked things off early in the day on Wednesday by debuting a special Las Vegas themed paint scheme that was the talk of the pit area and created quite the buzz on social media.

Finally getting to the track later that night, Madsen got his Sin City Showdown underway by timing the Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine in third fastest in his qualifying group.

Finishing second in his heat race, Madsen would move into the Dash where the eight pill lined him up in the fourth row of the six-lap shootout. Tallying an eighth place finish, Madsen would take the green from the fourth row for the upcoming 30-lap feature event.

Running inside the Top-10 for the opening stages of the race, a myriad of yellow flags would force several restarts, and Madsen would slip outside of the Top-10 on the 12th circuit

Continuing to race hard on a tricky surface, Madsen would continue to battle for a position inside the Top-10 until he was forced to come to a stop on the 22nd lap with an issue.

Able to rejoin the field, Madsen would restart from the 18th position, and would officially be scored 16th when the race came to a close.

Back at it on Thursday night, the St. Marys, NSW pilot would again get off to a good start as he would time the Kline Electric/Ted’s Body Shop/Bobcat backed entry in fourth fastest in time trials, before a set back in his heat race saw him finish fourth.

Moving into the feature event, Madsen would grid the field from the 16th starting spot on the wide a slick Las Vegas Dirt Track. When the green flag was displayed to the field, the 2017 Knoxville Raceway Track Champion was able to make some moves as he worked his way forward.

Searching down low, and trying out the cushion, Madsen was able to make up ground as he worked his way up to the 11th position when the checkered flag waived on the annual stop in the desert.

“We have some really good speed, and hopefully we can get into a rhythm out west and put together some good finishes,” Madsen added. “I have to thank all of my KCP Racing guys for their hard work, and all of our amazing partners for doing what they do for our team, and putting us in a great position.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Bobcat, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Revolution Race Gear, Monarch’s, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
