PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of a second place finish in Stockton, CA last week, Ian Madsen and the KCP Racing team made their final start in the Golden State count as Madsen was able to charge from 16th to garner a fifth place finish.

“It was a great way for us to close out this swing,” Ian Madsen said. “To get back to back top-five’s is great momentum for us so hopefully we can continue to build off of this and stay up front.”

Though threatening skies toyed with Bakersfield Speedway all through the night, the show was able to get completed and Madsen opened things up by timing the Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine in 16th quickest in qualifying time trials.

Gridding the field from the second row of his heat race following a brief weather delay, Madsen would hold strong in the spot and move into the feature event where his fourth place finish would place him in the eighth row of the 35-lap feature event.

As the night moved along, track conditions would continue to slick off and things would become extremely racy for the series’ final California appearance until a return trip in September.

From the 16th starting position, Madsen showed he had a very potent KCP Racing machine, as he was able to quickly work his way forward on the tight bullring. Using double file restarts to his advantage, Madsen would find himself inside the Top-Five late in the race and a serious factor as the leaders battled in traffic.

Fighting with drivers like Joey Saldana, Shane Stewart, and Carson Macedo, Madsen would close his soggy trip to the Golden State out with a hard fought fifth place finish.

“To come from that far back with these guys is a tough feat,” Madsen added. “Kyle Ripper and the boys did a great job of getting our car better and better and we are pumped to leave with another really good performace.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Bobcat, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Revolution Race Gear, Monarch’s, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
