PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen and his D&B Goodyer Developments have been very strong in Australia, and the last few nights has seen the team turn in some nice results as the calendar officially closes on Madsen’s 2014 season.
“The first few nights at Sydney have been pretty good overall,” Madsen said.
To open up the Valvoline Grand Prix, Madsen was very strong on Friday night, as he had one of the strongest cars in the field.
Grabbing command on the race, Madsen looked to pick up a big win, but a slight bobble on the cushion saw the 2014 Knoxville Raceway Track Champion lose some spots, though he was able to rebound and tally a fourth place finish.
Saturday night, a late raw proved to be detrimental in time trials, as Madsen timed in with the 28th fastest lap of the night.
Starting 11th in the B, Madsen was on the wheel aboard his D&B Goodyer Developments/MK Excavating/Adornato Sand and Gravel backed machine as he climbed into the third spot, and transferred into the feature event.
Lining up 20th in the feature, Madsen and his crew continued to work on their entry, and the feature event saw the St Marys, NSW driver put on a show.
From the 10th row, Madsen brilliantly carved his way around the Sydney Speedway as he worked his way up to a very impressive second place finish.
During last night’s NSW Title, again at the Sydney Speedway, Madsen timed the Watsons Express Transport/Lucas Oil/QSS Speedway Spares backed machine in ninth fastest before finishing third in his heat.
On a track that deteriorated through the duration of the night, Madsen would lined up in the sixth row, and move inside the top-10 before the rubber began being laid on the speedway.
Once the rubber went down, passing became non-existent, and Madsen would close his 2014 calendar year with a ninth place finish.
“It’s a true testament to how strong our team is because I feel like each night we have had one of the quickest if not the quickest car on the track, but some rubber down tracks, and other circumstances have held us back a little,” he added. “We are really close to getting Dave and Belinda a big win, and I can’t thank Dave Sharman and Clinton McKenize enough for their continued hard work.”
Madsen would like to thank D&B Goodyer Developments, MK Excavating, Adornato Sand & Gravel, Watsons Express Transport, Lucas Oil, QSS Speedway Spares, Revolution Racegear, Oval Express, and Dyden Signs for their support.
