PETERSEN MEDIA- Though it reads as an eighth place finish on the race rundown, Jonathan Allard had a strong night going at the Cotton Classic until he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time late in the race on Saturday night, resulting in him getting in getting upside down.

“We ran insdie the top-five all night, but late in the race there was a tangle and we had nowhere to go, and got upside down,” Allard said. “We got it fixed and were able to finish, but we were much better than what our result shows.”

With 29 cars on hand on Saturday night for the King of the West Series’ penultimate event, Allard got the night started off in style as he timed in with the fastest time in qualifications.

Lining up in the second row for the feature event, Allard found himself in an early battle with Bud and Tim Kaeding as the trio sliced and diced around the tricky Thunderbowl.

Moving into the third spot as the race moved along, Allard began battling with Sean Becker, as the duo exchanged slide-jobs on various occasions, with Becker winning the battle momentarily, though Allard would not go away, as he continued to run the cushion.

As Allard and Becker battled, DJ Netto was able to also get by Allard, as JA slipped back into the fifth spot in what was an action packed feature event.

Continuing to run in the fifth spot, things went south for Allard with nine laps to go, as cars got crossed up in front of him, and with nowhere to go, Allard made minor contact with another competitor, and got his Tri-C Manufacturing/ButlerBuilt/Platinum Powdercoating machine upside down.

With his team able to make repairs, Allard was able to restart and pick up a few positions as he was able to crack the Top-10 and finish in the eighth spot.

“We have been pretty strong the last few weeks, and I think we will be okay for the Trophy Cup this weekend,” he added. “I have been able to win it in the past, and would love nothing more than to end my 2014 season with the Tri-C Motorsports team with a Trophy Cup win.”

Allard would like to thank Tri-C Manufacturing, K&N, ButlerBuilt, Platinum Powder Coating, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Red Line Oil, KSE Racing Products, Weld Wheels, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, Ti64, A.R.T. Speed Equipment and Hoosier Tire for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-59, Wins-12, Top 5’s-29, Top 10’s-41.

ON TAP: Allard and the Tri-C Motorsports team will be back at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA this Thursday-Saturday for the 21st Annual Trophy Cup.
