PETERSEN MEDIA- Running second in the final International Series race a few weeks back, Jonathan Allard would return to action on Boxing Day, where he again ran second, before returning to victory lane on Monday night at the Springs Speedway.

“We have been so strong night in and night out, and I hope we can continue this strong of podium runs,” Allard said.

Hitting the track on the 26th in front of an extremely large Boxing Day crowd, Allard would finish second in his first heat from the third starting spot, before finishing second in his final heat race from his sixth starting position.

Sitting atop the point charts, Allard elected to grid the field from the pole alongside Jamie McDonald.

Getting the jump, Allard would go high getting into turns one and two, and would leave the door open for McDonald. With McDonald taking advantage, Allard found himself in the second spot and in pursuit of the race lead.

With McDonald slowly stretching out his lead, Allard did all he could to track him down, but would come up just short during the 20-lap feature event as he picked up his second consecutive runner-up finish.

Back in action on Monday night, JA would take full advantage of his front row starting spot in his first heat as he drove away from the field and earned the win. Lining up in the fifth row of his second heat race, the Chico, CA driver would finish in the seventh spot, but still found himself as the nights top point earner.

On the extremely slick Springs Speedway surface, Allard would elect to start on the outside of the front row, again alongside Jamie McDonald. Getting the jump again over McDonald, Allard would not be denied on this night as he took a liking to the razor thin cushion.

Hitting his marks during the feature event, Allard would go on to pick up this fourth win of the year in New Zealand in what was just his sixth start.

“I have to thank my guys and the people who back us,” Allard said. “This is a tough sport, but when you run well it sure makes it fun for everyone.”

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-73, Wins-16, Top 5’s-38, Top 10’s-52.

ON TAP: Allard and the Zero Motorsports team will return to action on Wednesday night at Bay Park in what will be a final tune up before the New Zealand Championship.
