PETERSEN MEDIA- Competing in the final two legs of California Sprint Week, Jace Vander Weerd would pick up a ninth place finish while in action at the Santa Maria Speedway on Saturday night.

“It felt good to get back in the car, and pick up a Top-10 finish,” Jace Vander Weerd said.

Friday night, Vander Weerd’s weekend got underway as he took on the USAC/CRA Series at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA. Timing the Vander Weerd Construction/Stonegate Development/Battery Worx No. 88v machine in 14th fastest, the Visalia, CA pilot would race his way to the win during his heat race.

Lining up 14th in the A Main, bad luck would find Vander Weerd on the opening lap as he would get collected in a wreck and his night would come to a close.

Making the trip down to the Santa Maria Speedway in Nipomo, CA on Saturday night, Vander Weerd would time his Mid Valley Pipe/Basic Industries/Factory Kahne Shocks entry in 12th fastest before finishing second in his heat.

Taking the green flag from the sixth row, Vander Weerd would find himself in a battle with the Williams brothers as the trio battled for position inside the Top-10.

As the laps clicked off, Vander Weerd was able to work into the 10th spot, and pressure L. Williams and Faria, as they battled in front of him. When the checkered flag came out, Vander Weerd picked up a 9th place finish.

“It was good to move forward after having a pretty short night on Friday night,” Vander Weerd said. “This weekend I am really excited to get back in the winged car, because I have been getting more comfortable each night out in it.”

Jace and his Vander Weerd Racing team would like to thank Vander Weerd Construction, Stonegate Development, Battery Worx, Mid-Valley Pipe, Basic Industries, Factory Kahne Shocks, Steve Watt Enterprises, FK Rod Ends, PXP Racewear and K&N for their support in 2015.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-31, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-19.

ON TAP: Jace will be in action at the Keller Auto Speedway on Friday night with the Duinkerken Farms KoK Series before heading to the Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night to take on the USAC/CRA Series.
