PETERSEN MEDIA- Unsure of how much they would race in 2015, Jason Solwold and his Shaylen Raye Motorsports team ended up having a monster season as Solwold picked up 11-feature event wins including his first ever Dirt Cup triumph.

“We were able to put together a great team, and I really have to thank Mike Anderson, Mel Roberts, Trav, and Ed for all they did for the team during the season,” Jason Solwold said. “We were fortunate to have Al Parker Engines in our car, and the support Al provided us really helped us stay ahead of the competition.”

Competing in the Pacific Northwest during the 2015 season, Solwold and his team were almost untouchable on a weekly basis as they only finished out side of the Top-Four on one occasion, and backed up their strong performances when the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and World of Outlaws came to town.

Racing against the coveted World of Outlaws on three occasions, Solwold and company never finished outside of the Top-10, including a Top-Five run against them at the Cottage Grove Speedway in early September.

Being from the Northwest, the Dirt Cup has been a race that has always eluded Solwold. This year, Solwold proved to be up to the challenge as the stars and cars of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour invaded the Skagit Speedway to try their luck at the prestigious event.

Solwold would flex his muscles during the Dirt Cup opener as he picked up the win, and came back to finish second during the second preliminary night. With big money on the line for the final night, the Burlington, WA native would not be denied as he dominated the 40-lap feature event and earned his first career Dirt Cup title.

With the win, Solwold and car owner, Mike Anderson, completed the Skagit Speedway triple-crown as they are also winners of the Summer Nationals and a World of Outlaws feature event at the Skagit Speedway.

“Winning the Dirt Cup was great for everyone on the team, I just wish it was still a 410ci race,” Solwold added.

Other accomplishments for Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team include winning the Marvin Smith Memorial, The Fred Brownfield Classic opening night feature event, and claiming the 10-race Summer Thunder Series Championship.

“I have more confidence than ever before, and it all has to do with the people surrounding myself and this race team,” Solwold added. “Having fun all year long was a huge part of our success, and we all believe that we can win any race around. We are all kind of bummed that our season is over, but we are hard at work getting ready for 2016 and getting started at the Winter Heat in Arizona. We were fortunate to have some great marketing partners on our side all year, and we cannot thank all of them enough for their continued support.”

Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team would like to thank Pops Entertainment, Vic’s 66, Scottie’s Plumbing, Rayle Auto Sales, Speedmart, JKG Construction, Ben Cook Race Products, Fuel Safe, A.R.T. Chassis, Performance RC, Heavy D, Meyer Sign and Co, Wings Unlimited, and Slade Shocks for their continued support.

ON TAP: Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team will kick their 2016 season off in January at the Cocopah Speedway during the 2nd Annual Winter Heat Showdown.
