PETERSEN MEDIA- Kicking off his 2016 season in Yuma, AZ during the Winter Heat, Jason Solwold and his Shaylen Raye Motorsports team returned to action with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series over the weekend in Las Vegas, NV, and though the results simply were not there, Solwold left Sin City upbeat and positive.

“We know our team is capable of better results, but we are still tuning on our Parker power and Triple X cars,” Solwold said. “With the World of Outlaws you need to time in well, and we struggled early during both nights.”

Hitting the Dirt Track at Las Vegas on Thursday night aboard the Scottie’s Plumbing/Pops Entertainment/Vic’s 66 backed No. 18 machine, Solwold would time in 29th overall during the split field qualifications.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Burlington, WA driver would battle with Sammy Swindell and Ian Madsen as he ran in the fifth and final transfer position into the feature event. Holding the spot, Solwold would move the Doyle Guffie’s Rayle Auto Sales/Speedmart/After Hours Painting entry into the 30-lap feature event, where he gridded the field from the 20th starting position.

An extremely slick racing surface saw the field battle for real estate around the bottom of the speedway where they fought for what was left of the moisture. From the 10th row, Solwold was able to get up and earn some positions as he closed his first night of action out with a 13th place finish.

Back in action on Friday night for the final night of action, Solwold would get the night started off by timing in 17th fastest, before finishing sixth in his heat race.

Heading to the Last Chance Showdown, the 2015 Dirt Cup Champion would race his way into the third spot when the green flag dropped, where he would go on to finish and move into the final feature event of the weekend.

Lining up in the 23rd position, Solwold tried everything in his arsenal to get his Triple X/Parker Race Engines/Wings Unlimited machine moving forward, but it was not meant to be on this night.

When the checkered flag flew on the weekend in ‘Vegas, Solwold would finish in the 22nd spot.

“We left Las Vegas a little disappointed, but we are certainly not discouraged,” Solwold added. “We have a great team and we are all confident we will get this Parker powered Triple X machine to the front in not time at all.”

Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team would like to thank Scottie’s Plumbing, Pops Entertainment, Vic’s 66, Doyle Guffie’s Rayle Auto Sales, Speedmart, After Hours Painting, Triple X Race Co., Al Parker Race Engines, Wings Unlimited, Slade Shocks, Rob Graham Trucking, Wings Unlimited, Meyer Sings, Vahlco Wheels, Rob Graham Trucking, and Pro Signs for their continued support.

ON TAP: Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team are not sure of their next race at this time, but are considering competing at the Stockton Dirt Track March 18th and 19th.
