PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to a track that is near and dear to him, Jason Solwold had a nice showing during the Rock-N-Roll Gold Cup at the Badlands Motor Speedway as he finished in the fourth spot on Sunday night.

“I really wanted to win that $50K for this team, but I got shuffled back on the start of the race Sunday night,” Solwold said. “We got going at the end of the race, and we got to traffic but the red flag flew and gave us clear track for the final laps.”

Timing his Scottie’s Plumbing/NW Team Excavating/KarMart Motorsports No. 18 machine in eighth fastest during qualifying night on Friday night, the Burlington, WA driver would pick up a third place finish and move into the 25-lap feature event.

Pocketing a fourth place finish in the Scramble, Solwold would line up alongside Rico Abreu in the second row for the 35-lap feature event.

As the race came to life, Solwold would go up top to runt he cushion, but it would result in him losing quite a few spots in the opening laps, as he slipped back to the 10th spot but remained calm.

Finding something on the bottom of the speedway, Solwold would run with his left side wheels hitting the insider berm lap after lap and make up a ton of ground.

Getting back into the Top-Five, Solwold would be come a threat in the closing laps as he closed in on Brady Bacon and Craig Dollansky.

As the lead pack got into traffic, Solwold would get even closer only to see the caution flag late in the race and give the leaders a clear track ahead.

The final laps would see Solwold make a bid for a spot on the podium, but at the stripe he would close his trip out with a fourth place finish.

“I want to thank my guys for making these last few weeks possible,” Solwold said. “I also want to thank the Badlands Motor Speedway team for taking care of us. They put on a first class show, and it’s always been a place I enjoy going.”
