PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to Ruapuna Speedway on Sunday night as they ran alongside the New Zealand Midget Championship, Joel Myer Jr picked up his second feature event win of 2024 as he scored at his home away from home.
“It was a fun night running in conjunction with the NZ Title Midget race,” Joel Myers Jr sad. “The only downfall was we had some of our program get cut short, but the Anderson’s gave me a great car each time we hit the track and it is great to get another win at Ruapuna Speedway.”
Lining up seventh in his first heat race, Myers Jr had his elbows up as he worked his way around Ruapuna Speedway picking up positions at will. Working into second, Myers Jr chased after Jamie Duff, but came up short in the end as he took the checkered flag with a runner up finish.
Slated to run a second round of heat races, time constraints forced officials to call those off, and resort to a redraw for the feature event line up.
In the redraw due to his from seventh to second, Myers Jr had lady luck on his side, as the one pill put him on the pole of the feature event.
When the race came to life, Myers Jr was hard on the throttle as he jumped out to the early lead. Looking very stout out front, Myers Jr looked to be tough to beat on this night until the red flag few and paused the action.
With the accident scene taking extended time to clean up and with time becoming an issue, the race was ultimate called official at this time, and Myers Jr was declared the night’s feature event winner.
“It was unfortunate to that we got cut short, but I know how important that the NZ Title race is, and that was the headlining event,” Joel Myers Jr added. “Again, I really want to thank Daniel and all the guys for their hard work.”
