Justin Sanders 2nd With High Limit Series After Peter Murphy Classic Top-Five

PETERSEN MEDIA: Busy weekends that bleed into the early week are the norm for Justin Sanders in 2023 as he competes with the KWS/NARC Series as well as the High Limit Series. After finishing fourth at the Peter Murphy Classic in California on Friday night, Sanders raced his way to a second-place finish at the Buckeye Brawl with the High Limit Series on Ohio on Tuesday night.

“It was a busy couple of days, but it makes it easier when you run well,” Justin Sanders said. “Friday night we had some bad luck and had a part fail, but Saturday night we had a good night, and picked up a top five in Hanford, CA.”

After issues on Friday derailed Sanders and the Mittry Motorsports team, Saturday night got off to a quick start for the Aromas, CA driver as he timed the Mittry Construction/Farmers Brewing/North County Plastering backed No. 2x in fourth fastest in time trials.

Picking up the win in his heat race, Sanders moved into the pole shuffle where he lost his first matchup with James McFadden which put him in the fifth starting position in the 30-lap, $11,000-to-win feature event.

Hitting the track following the completion of the 360ci feature, the slick Kings Speedway surface made for a lot of single file action with passing limited during the 30-lap affair.

A strong start to the race saw Sanders power his way into third as he battled the likes of Shane Golobic and James McFadden as the trio jockeyed around the slick 3/8 mile facility. Slipping back to fifth as much of the field went single file, Sanders held his down the position for a majority of the final half of the race.

Battling with Shane Golobic again the closing stages of the Peter Murphy Classic, Sanders was able to take the fourth spot as they came to the checkered flag.

Heading to Ohio on Tuesday night for the Buckeye Brawl at Wayne County Speedway, Sanders made the most of his first laps at the facility as he earned quick time honors in his group aboard the Victory Fuel/Swindell SpeedLab backed No. 39.

Lining up on the pole of his heat race, Sanders continued to rip around the slick Ohio bullring as he powered his way to the win and solidified a berth in the Dash.

Drawing the Two in the High Limit Room, Sanders opted to not fall back to fifth or third for bonus money during the Durst Dice Roll, and kept his front row starting position.

Tight racing early in the feature saw Sanders battle for the second position as he slipped back to third in the early goings of the race.

Hanging with some of the country’s best, Sanders powered his way into second on the 14th lap as he chased after fellow Californian native, Kyle Larson.

A couple of late restarts put Sanders on Larson’s rear bumper, but Larson was able to get away in open track as Sanders capped his first visit to Wayne County Speedway off with a second-place finish.

“To come out here for the first time and run this well is a testament to this team,” Justin Sanders said. “It was a fun place, and Kevin Swindell and his guys gave me a really strong car.”

Justin and his team would like to thank Farmers Brewing, Mittry Construction, North County Plastering, Alkaline88, Andy’s Construction, Roadside 24hr Service, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2022.
