Justin Sanders Secures Trio of Top-5’s During Busy Weekend in Central CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending his second consecutive weekend in Central CA, Justin Sanders continued to post strong finishes as the Aromas, CA driver picked up a trio of Top-5’s including a third-place finish at the Anthony Simone Classic with the King of the West/NARC Series on Friday night.

“We have been really fast these last couple of weeks in the 410 and 360, and I am happy how I felt at Tulare on Saturday night,” Justin Sanders said. “With Trophy Cup coming this week, it is important to have confidence heading into a big week, and I am happy with our cars heading into this event.”

Friday night, Sanders and the Mittry Motorsports team checked in at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA for the Anthony Simone Classic with KWS/NARC.

Timing the Farmers Brewing/Mittry Construction/North County Plastering backed No. 2x in 10th quickest in time trials, Sanders then got the jump in his heat race and raced to the important win.

Tallying enough points for the Dash, Sanders then picked up a seventh-place finish in the Dash and lined up in the fourth row to start the 30-lap, $10,000-to-win feature event.

Quickly working his way into fourth, Sanders would be part of one of the best races for the win in recent memory. Hooking up in a torrid battle with Rico Abreu, Dominic Scelzi, and Corey Day, the four-pack of drivers thrilled on lookers as they jockeyed for the top spot on the slick surface.

Racing three and four wide at times, the action intensified as the laps clicked off. When the dust settled on the thrilling feature, Sanders capped his night off with a third-place finish.

Saturday night the scene shifted to THunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA as the King of the West/NARC Series took part in the inaugural Dennis Roth Classic, and the Kings of Thunder 360’s had a Trophy Cup tune up event and Sanders took part in both.

KWS action saw Sanders time the Farmers Brewing backed entry in sixth quickest before running fourth in his heat race.

Lining up ninth in the feature event, Sanders had his right-rear up on the Thunderbowl Raceway boards as he worked his way forward as he chased after another podium finish.

In a deja-vu type performance from Friday, Sanders found himself chasing after the likes of Abreu, Day, and Scelzi again. When the dust settled on this feature, Sanders brought home a fourth-place finish.

Timing the 360ci power plan in eight fastest in time trials, Sanders took full advantage of his front row starting spot in heat race action as he cruised to the win and made himself eligible for the feature event redraw.

Pulling the four, Sanders took the green flag from the second row as he hit the slick surface right after his fourth-place feature in 410ci action.

Running in the third position in the opening laps, the ever changing Thunderbowl Raceway surface saw Sanders slick back to fifth on an early restart.

Once in fifth, passing would prove to be tough at times, as Sanders maintained the positon and closed his weekend out with a third consecutive Top-Five.

“We have a good base for Trophy Cup, and it will just be on us to keep up with the track especially with a lot of cars wearing it out each night,” Sanders said.

Justin and his team would like to thank Farmers Brewing, Mittry Construction, North County Plastering, Alkaline88, Andy’s Construction, Roadside 24hr Service, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2022.

ON TAP: Sanders will be back in action Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night for the Trophy Cup in Tulare, CA.
