(PETERSEN MEDIA- Watsonville, CA)- Justin Sanders’ strangle hold on Ocean Speedway victory lane continued on Friday night as the Watsonville, CA driver improved his average to .500 as he won his sixth Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo feature event win of the season, in what was the series’ 12th race.

After enduring a heart breaker one week ago, Matthew Moles would lead the field to green alongside fellow youngster, Colby Johnson. When Ed Entz displayed the green flag, Moles would get the initial jump, but Johnson would grab the lead off of turn two and set the early pace.

As Johnson led early, third starting Justin Sanders would overtake the second spot on the initial lap as the field rumbled through turns three and four. As Sanders closed in on Johnson in the early stages, the 31-lap feature event green-flag streak would come to an end on the race’s second lap.

Back underway, Sanders put pressure on Johnson in turns one and two but was unable to take over the top spot as the Penngrove, CA driver continued to lead over Sanders, Moles, Brad Furr, and Geoff Ensign.

As the leaders got into traffic, Sanders would finally work his way to the front on the ninth circuit as he quickly extended his lead in traffic until the 16th lap when Johnson’s strong run came to a close as he slowed on the front stretch.

With the green lights back on, Sanders jumped on the throttled as he opened his lead back up over Moles, Ensign, Furr, and Jarrett Soares. Very strong up front, Sanders would go on to pick up his sixth feature event win of the year.

Behind Sanders, it was a race for second as Ensign was able to edge out Moles by just .004 seconds to take the runner up position, as Moles settled for third.

Brad Furr held on to fourth, as Brent Kaeding, Soares, Day Day Lindt, Jason Chisum, Colby Johnson, and Jeremy Chisum completed the Top-10.

Brad Furr kicked the night off by earning the Ray Scheidts Fast Time Award, as heat race wins went to Ensign, Jason Chisum, and Moles. Moles was also the Dash winner.

Brent Kaeding earned the High 5 Pizza Hard Charger Award by advancing five spots in the feature event.
