Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports 7th at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Back to work at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Justyn Cox and his C&M Motorsports team had an event free night that saw Cox pick up a Top-10 at the track with his seventh-place finish.

“It has been a weird start to our season,” Justyn Cox said. “We have had speed all year long, but it seems like every night we have bad luck on our side. Saturday night we finally had pretty event free night, but we just kind of hung out where we started and ended up finishing seventh.”

Putting together a different car for Saturday’s race after last week’s incident caused severe frame damage, Cox was able to put it through its paces early as he timed the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber/Lund Construction backed entry in third fastest in time trials.

Just needing to transfer through his heat to earn a berth in the draw, Cox would do just that as he settled into third, where he would finish, and punched his ticket into the 25-lap feature event.

With the night progressing, the track would continue to slick off and widen out. Pulling the eight pill in the draw, Cox would look forward to that wide surface as he would take the green flag from the eighth starting position.

Following a red flag on the race’s initial start, the ensuing restart would see the field turn in 20 green flag laps as the field worked in rapid fire fashion around the slick ¼ mile bullring.

Running in the eighth spot in the opening laps, Cox would move into seventh on the seventh lap as he chased after the likes of Blake Carrick, Ryan Robinson, and Tanner Carrick who all ran in front of him.

Thought the track was slick and wide, the high side of the speedway seemed to be the fastest lane making passing a little tricky at times.

Working on the cushion lap after lap, Cox would keep his machine inside the Top-10 as he capped the night off with a seventh-place finish.

“We put a different car together this week, and it was really good and balanced all night,” Cox added. “In the feature though we just couldn’t really seem to get going forward. “Still a fun night and I have to thank Cody and Mandi again for the opportunity to drive their car. We do have a fast car, and I am looking forward to trying again this weekend.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Cox and C&M Motorsports will be in action at Placerville Speedway on Saturday.
