PETERSEN MEDIA: Putting a frustrating Gold Cup Race of Champions behind him, Justyn Cox and his Cox Racing team picked up a fourth place finish during the season finale event at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
“It was nice to have a decent run after having some bad luck the last few weeks,’” Justyn Cox said.
Timing his Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c machine in eighth fastest during qualifying time trials, the Clarksburg, CA driver would race his way to a win during his heat race, and put himself in the nightly redraw.
Pulling the three-pill, Cox would line up in the second row of the feature and quickly jump in the second spot when the green flag waived. Getting to the race leader on a couple of occasions, Cox admittedly had trouble figuring out the cushion in three and four, and continued to run second.
Continuing to have trouble on that end of track, Cox would give up a couple of positions as the laps clicked off, and would take the checkered flag with a fourth place finish.
“I think if I had been more aggressive in one and two, I would have finished even better, but I am glad to be back finishing up front, where I feel this team belongs,” Cox added.

ON TAP: If Cox’s 410ci engine is ready in time he will head to Ventura, CA and Santa Maria, CA with the King of the West Series, but if it is not ready he will head to Petaluma Speedway with the Civil War Series.
