PETERSEN MEDIA: Following a disappointing night at Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Justyn Cox is set to kick off his Speedweek Northwest title defense tonight at Coos Bay Speedway in Coos Bay, OR.

“We had a really good car on Saturday night, unfortunately we cut a tire early, then our nosewing mount broke and we had to retire early,” Justyn Cox said. “Despite that, I am really confident heading into Speedweek Northwest this week and am really looking forward to a week of racing.”

Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Cox would time in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials, and put his Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c entry on the front row of his heat race.

On a very slick Stockton Dirt Track surface, Cox would capitalize on the prime starting position, as he would race his way to the win and make himself eligible for the all-important Dash.

Finishing second in the Dash, Cox would find himself on the front row of the 30-lap Tribute to LeRoy Van Connett feature event alongside Mitchell Faccinto. Following track prep prior to the feature event going green, Cox would settle into second when the race came to life.

Running in the runner up position, lap six would see Cox’s left rear go down and would force him into the work area for repairs. Able to make the call to restart from the tail, Cox would make another handful of laps before a front wing mount would fail and he would pull his machine back into the pit area and bring his night to an end.

“I have to thank Rodney and the guys for giving me a good car,” Cox said. “It was a bummer to have a bad night with a good car. Hopefully we can keep our speed and head to Oregon this week and have some more success.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, Arai, Racing Optics, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2018!

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-22, Wins-1, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-7
