PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting the call last week to run for C&M Motorsports in Marysville, CA on Saturday night, Justyn Cox made the most of his opportunity as he turned in a very strong performance that netted him a second place finish.
“I had such a fun time racing with Cody, Mandi, and MF,” Justyn Cox said. “I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity and hopefully we can do it again in 2020.”
Cox got his night off to a strong start at a track that he has admittedly struggled at as of late as he timed the Moorfield Construction, Inc./PT Shocks/Alturas Tire/Legacy Specialties/Swartz Diesel backed machine in second fastest in time trials.
Picking up a fourth place finish in his heat race, the Clarksburg, CA driver would move into a the Dash where a second place finish lined him up on the front row of the 30-lap affair.
Getting a great start, Cox jumped out to the early lead. Leading the way early, Cox would quickly find himself in traffic and that allowed second running Andy Forsberg to close in on him.
With Cox working through traffic, Forsberg would see an opening on the 12thlap and set Cox back into the runner up spot. Continuing to battle through traffic and battle for the lead, Cox would forge his way back into the top spot, but an untimely yellow would negate Cox’s effort.
Back under green, Cox would continue to battle for the top spot, but with the way yellow and red’s flew, traffic was never another issue and Cox was able to get a run built up on the leader.
When it was all said and done, Cox capped a very strong first night aboard the C&M Motorsports entry as he took the checkered flag with a second place finish.
“The team gave me a perfect car every time we hit the track, and I just made a mistake in traffic and just unfortunately have to own it,” Cox added. “Again, really grateful for the opportunity Cody and Mandi gave me to officially close out the season, and it’s definitely a confidence booster to run well the first time in it.”
The Cox Racing team would like to thank Michael David Winery, Five Window Beer Company, MDW Sports, Cranked Naturals, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, Arai, Racing Optics, All American Powder Coating, VSR, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2019!
