Kalib Henry Battles Forward For Placerville Speedway Top-10

PETERSEN MEDIA: Running a handful of 410ci events together in 2022, Saturday night marked Kalib Henry’s first 360ci start of the season with McColloch Motorsports, and after some early kinks got ironed out the Mather, CA driver rebounded for a Top-10 at Placerville Speedway.

“The McColloch’s got their 360ci back, and Saturday night was the first night out with a fresh motor and a new car so naturally we had some early issues to iron out,’ Henry said. “We improved each time we hit the track, and after coming through the ‘B’ we were able to come away with a ninth-place finish.”

34 cars checked into Placerville Speedway on the heels of a short week with many teams also competing on the 4th of July. Missing the mark in time trials, Henry missed the heat race inversion as he timed the McColloch’s RV Repair/Davis Truck Painting/Driven Homes Inc. No. 17 in 17th fastest in time trials.

Taking the green flag from the third row in heat race competition, Henry settled into fifth which was one spot out of a transfer position. Unable to get into fourth, Henry’s fifth place finish put him on the front row of the 12-lap ‘B’ as he had one final chance to transfer into the feature.

Attacking the curb in ‘B’ main action, Henry would keep pace with leader, Gage Garcia as the duo motored away from the field. Finishing second, Henry moved into the 25-lap ‘A’ and took the green flag from the 17th starting position.

A wild opening to the feature saw three separate incidents keep the race from going green. Able to avoid each incident, Henry picked up a couple of positions before one lap was officially scored.

Once the race finally came to life, the next 25-laps would click off without interruption and that benefitted Henry as he settled into a groove and worked his way forward.

Working the top of the speedway, Henry raced into the Top-10 and into seventh in the race’s waning laps. Battling hard for more track position, Henry would get tight on the cushion, and it resulted in slipping back to ninth when the Darren Stahl checkered flag was displayed to the field.

“I felt really good in the feature event, and if it wasn’t for some close quarters racing, we may have run it up into the Top-Five,’ Henry said. “I am thankful for the McColloch family, and I am looking forward to trying again in a couple of weeks at the Mark Forni Classic.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Davis Truck Painting, Driven Homes, Inc., ART Speed Equipment, Hansen Machine, Rockstar Services, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 5, Wins: 0, Top-5’s: 1, Top-10’s- 4

ON TAP: McColloch Motorsports and Kalib Henry will be back in action on Saturday night as they travel to Ocean Speedway for the Howard Kaeding Classic with the KWS/NARC Series.
