Kalib Henry Puts Together Another Strong Showing at Fall Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Though he came up short on his goal of defending his Fall Nationals wins from 2021, Kalib Henry and McColloch Motorsports had another strong showing at Silver Dollar Speedway’s annual finale as Henry pocked a pair of third place finishes.

“Even though we came up a little short of our goal of winning another Fall Nationals, we still had a really good weekend and ended up the podium both nights with over 60 cars in the pit area each night,” Kalib Henry said. “I really want to thank everyone involved with this race team for their support.”

With Friday night’s opener running under SCCT sanction and in honor of Tyler Wolf, Henry kicked the weekend off by timing the McColloch’s RV Repair/Davis Truck Painting/Driven Homes Inc. backed No. 17 in fourth fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up third in his heat race, Henry maintained the position as he finished third and locked into the 35-lap opening night feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 13th starting position, Henry had his work cut out for him as he started in the middle of the star-studded field. Jumping into the Top-10 within the race’s first three laps, Henry continued to battle his way forward as he took over the seventh position on the 11th circuit.

With stoppages hampering the show, restarts were kind to the Mather, CA driver as he worked into the top-five just prior to the race’s halfway point. Briefly falling back to sixth, a restart would propel him into fourth where he ran during the ladder stages of the race.

As the action heated up for the win ahead of Henry, the 2021 Fall Nationals Champion took advantage of an opening in the last corner that led him to a third place finish and put him on the SCCT podium.

Back in action at Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night for the Fall Nationals finale, Henry got off to an uncharacteristically slow start as he timed in seventh fastest in his qualifying group.

With heat races lined up with no inversion, Henry took the green flag from the seventh starting spot. With a very good car underneath him, Henry would get into second at one point, which would have put him in the Dash, however a caution negated that pass and kept him in third where he ultimately went on to finish.

Locking into the 40-lap feature event, the second-generation driver lined up 12th on this night as he chased after his second consecutive win at the event. Getting off to a great start, Henry wasted no time working his way into the Top-Five as he used restarts effectively and made up some of the lost ground.

After an open red on the 17th lap, Henry continued to run well, but another restart would lead to damage to a brake line which took all brakes away from him. Forced to tip-toe around the bottom for the second half of the race, Henry would work his way back up to third when the checkered flag was displayed to the field.

“Thank to Nick, Kerry, and my Dad for their hard work all weekend,” Henry said. “We had a really good car both nights.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Davis Truck Painting, Driven Homes, Inc., ART Speed Equipment, Hansen Machine, Rockstar Services, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 14, Wins: 1, Top-5’s: 6, Top-10’s- 11
