PETERSEN MEDIA- Hoping to build on two consecutive Top-10 finishes on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway, Kyler Shaw was plagued with brake issues in the feature event, and was relegated to a 17th place finish.

“It was a frustrating night,” Shaw said. “We seemed to have issues all night, but we were able to move into 10th in points which is pretty cool, so hopefully this week we will go a little better.”

Timing in 17th fastest on the racy bullring, heat race action saw Shaw search all around the sticky speedway, as he took a liking to the high, scary side.

The thick cushion in three and four got Shaw out of whack while running in the fifth and final transfer spot, and a sixth place finish put him in the B Main.

Lining up on the front row of the B, Shaw got into the second spot behind Justin Sanders. In the opening laps of the semi, Shaw felt a vibration in his machine, and took it easy until the vibration went away, and he was able to drive harder, and secure his second place finish.

Lining up 17th in the feature event, Shaw was able to get into the 15th spot in the first few laps, as a majority of the field utilized the bottom of the speedway.

Trying to make the high side works as he was in heavy traffic, Shaw lost his brakes, and got up over the cushion, and slid back to the 20th spot.

Babying his machine around the bottom as he dealt with his brake issues, Shaw took advantage of a coupe drivers spinning out, and was able to make a pass to finish 17th.

“Placerville is tough enough to get around, and its is really difficult to do so without brakes,” he said. “Once the brakes went away, I just went to the bottom of the speedway and babied my car, and tried to keep my nose clean, which fortunately, I was able to.”

Kyler would like to thank Shaw Structures Unlimited, PM$ Investments, Stan Yockey Motorsports, Pro Signs, 4FourGraphics, F4st Four Media, Borrelo Racing Engines, Uncle Dave’s Ranch, and Sid’s Smokehouse for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-10, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-3.
