PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending his weekend competing at the Ocean Speedway and the Petaluma Speedway, Kyler Shaw had a very strong showing as he recorded a pair of eight place finishes.

“It was a really fun weekend,” Shaw said. “I had an absolute blast, and can’t thank everyone enough for their help.”

Friday night saw Shaw start his weekend off at the Ocean Speedway with the Ocean Sprints, and in time trials he turned in the 14th fastest lap.

Starting in the 14th spot for the 30-lap feature event, Shaw took a liking to the cushion when the race went green, and never ventured from it, as he was able to hustle his way through the field.

Keeping his right rear planted on it, Shaw found himself in the top-10 as the race began it’s home stretch, but he wasn’t satisfied.

Over the final laps, Shaw was able to get past Jason Chisom and Jake Haulot to get into the eighth spot, with his brother, Koen, hot on his tail.

At the stripe, Shaw finished his night off with an eighth place finish.

“It was a blast running all 30-laps on the cushion,” Shaw said. “Usually I am a bottom guy, but we tried the cushion out early, and it was really good, so we stayed committed to it.”

Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway, Shaw got off to a very good start, as he set the standard in time trials, with the fastest lap of the night putting him in the first heat.

Finishing third in his heat race, Shaw was eligible for the redraw, where the six pill put him in the third row for the feature event.

With confidence at the Petaluma Speedway from the success he has had there in 2014, Shaw held his own, as he battled with the likes of Bradley Terrell, and Herman Klein.

The end result was Shaw’s second eighth place finish of the weekend, and his sixth Top-10 of the season.

“I always say it is my goal to not lose spots, but overall I thought we had a good night,” he explained. “We lost spots to the eventual winner, and Herman Klein, who is competing for the track championship, so we can’t hang our heads about that.”

Kyler would like to thank Shaw Structures Unlimited, PM$ Investments, Stan Yockey Motorsports, Pro Signs, 4FourGraphics, F4st Four Media, Borrelo Racing Engines, Uncle Dave’s Ranch, and Sid’s Smokehouse for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-15, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-6.

ON TAP: Kyler will be in action on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA as he takes on the Ocean Sprints Presented by Taco Bravo, and at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
