PETERSEN MEDIA- With just limited laps at Stockton Dirt Track, Cody Lamar was generally happy with how things went on Saturday night, though the end result was not what he was aiming for.
“I don’t have many laps at Stockton Dirt Track, so overall I was happy with how we ran, and how I felt,” Lamar said. “Our result was not great, but we were a little off in the feature and then I had a nose wing collapse and really throw a wrench in the night.”
Timing the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9L in fourth fastest in his qualifying group, Lamar would line his machine up on the front row of his heat race.
On a fast track early in the night, Lamar would take advantage of the preferred starting spot as he was able to race his way to the heat race win and punch his ticket directly into the 35-lap feature event.
Taking the green flag from the 12th starting position, the Sacramento, CA driver had his car a little too free for his liking as the track had gone extremely slick for the feature event.
Trying to make traction, Lamar would start to get going the right direction as he was able to find a little rubber that had gone down on the speedway and used it as some extra grip.
Battling his way back forward, Lamar would then see his nosewing fold down and hs car would turn into a handful before he opted to pull off the racing surface on the 27th lap.
“We come back to Stockton a couple more times this year, and I really feel like I am getting more and more comfortable there with the more laps I get,” Lamar said. “It was a decent night, and now we will move on to Petaluma,”
