PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Gregg had a great night going on Saturday night in Placerville, CA but an unfortunate part failure with just one lap to go in the feature event knocked the Diamond Springs, CA driver out of the Top-Five and forced him back to the pit area.

“We just had some bad luck late in the feature event,” Andy Gregg said. “It could have been much worse than it was, so that’s good but it was still a bummer way to end a good night.”

Taking part in the annual Kids Bike Night celebration, Gregg timed the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware backed No. 16 entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials to jumpstart his Saturday night.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, Gregg would continue flex his muscles on the famous Placerville Speedway red dirt as he worked his way up to a second place finish and made himself eligible for the Top-Eight redraw where the five-pill put him fifth on the starting grid.

On a beautifully reworked track surface, Gregg would find himself in a tussle for fourth in the race’s opening stages. Still holding down the fifth position, Gregg would be forced to check up as the car he was battling got out of shape and he would find himself back in seventh.

With stoppages scattered throughout the 25-lap finale, Gregg would work his way back up inside the Top-Five as he had a very strong GUTS Racing entry underneath him.

Getting into fourth during the final laps, a parts failure on the 24th lap would force Gregg to bring his machine to a stop and his night would come to an end as he would be credited with a 15th place finish.

“I have to thank all my guys for their hard work and continuing to give me a fast racecar,” Gregg said. “We will take this weekend off before we try again with the King of the West Series in a couple of weeks.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2018.

ON TAP: Andy Gregg will take on the King of the West Series when they invade Placerville Speedway on July 28th.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-10, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-6
