PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of the Dale Miller Motorsports No. 4SA on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway during the Mark Forni Classic, Justin Sanders would get caught up in a late race tangle during a restart that would end his night.
“We had a pretty good car, and on a late restart I tried a little to hard and got caught tangled up and it ended our night,” Justin Sanders said.
Looking for his second win of the season with Dale Miller, Sanders kicked the night off by timing the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. backed entry in 13thfastest in qualifying time trials.
Starting in the third row of his heat race, the Aromas, CA pilot would get a couple of positions and come home with a third place finish, transferring him directly into the 25-lap feature event.
Lining up 13thon the grid, Sanders would go to work on the extremely slick ¼ mile bullring as he cracked the Top-10 within the race’s first three laps, and worked his way into seventh by the 10thcircuit.
Getting better by the lap, Sanders would quick move into sixth as he battled hard with the likes of Ryan Robinson and Steven Tiner, as move into 5th, on the 18thlap just before the caution flew.
The ensuing restart saw him look to work into the Top-Three, but making contact with another car, Sanders would come to a stop and it would end his night a little early.
“We got moving at the end, and I just tried to do too much on a restart and it was costly,” Sanders said. “Thanks to Dale and his team for all of their continued hard work, we really have hit on some things lately.”
