Macedo Earns First World of Outlaw Win

untitled-18-2

PETERSEN MEDIA- Flirting with his first 410ci win all year with the King of the West Series, Carson Macedo waited until the lights shined the brightest to break through and pick up that first win, as he beat the best, and won with the World of Outlaws on Friday night in Chico, CA during the Gold Cup Race of Champions.

“I’m just speechless,” Macedo said. “This is really like my first real win, and I’m thrilled to do it with the World of Outlaws. I really wanted to do donuts, but they kept telling me to go to the scales.”

Kicking off the Gold Cup Race of Champions on Friday night, Macedo timed his Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son/WFO Apparel entry in fifth fastest, before he finished fourth in his heat race.

Earning the pole for the Dash, Macedo would finish second to Daryn Pittman, and line up for the 30-lap feature event on the front row.

The initial start saw Pittman jump into the lead, forcing Macedo to the cushion, which would ultimately help him later in the night.

Running in the second spot for the first six laps, Macedo went to the high-side following a restart, and made his pass stick as he drove around Pitman to take over command of the race.

“I got forced to the to on the initial start, and I’m glad I did, because I felt that it was good up there, I just hit it wrong at the time, and was able to use it to my advantage when I got the lead,” he explained.

With Pittman getting back around Macedo with nine laps to go, the red flag flew negating the pass, and Macedo didn’t make the same mistake again, as he was stellar in the closing circuits, as he picked up the big win.

“I can’t say enough about this Tarlton and Son team,” Macedo said. “They give me great equipment, and Paul Baines gives me a great car, I honestly don’t know what to say.”

Back in action on Saturday night, Macedo looked to back up his win by winning the Gold Cup finale and started his night off by timing in sixth fastest in time trials.

Again, finishing fourth in his heat race, Macedo would move into the dash, and again found himself on the pole of the race.

Not getting off to a great start, Macedo would fall to the third spot, where he would finish, putting him in the second row for the 40-lap feature event.

When the race got underway, Macedo ran inside the Top-Three in the early laps as he battled with the likes of Daryn Pittman and Jonathan Allard.

Sitting in the fourth spot, a restart on lap 19 saw Macedo make a couple of huge moves to gain positions, but it was deemed that Macedo took off too early, and was penalized two spots, back to the sixth spot.

Slipping back a few spots after getting over the cushion passing for fourth, Macedo would spin his machine out with eight to go, a go back to the tail end of the lead lap cars, which was 17th.

Over the final laps, Macedo would keep his composure, and work his way back up to an eighth place finish.

“We probably had a better car than what our finish shows, but I just made some mistakes,” he said. “It is still really cool to pick up a win and another top-10 with the best in the world.”

Macedo was also in action on Wednesday night with the Civil War Sprint Car Series Presented By Flowmaster at the Silver Dollar Speedway.

Timing in 24th fastest, Macedo would ultimately line up in the 17th spot for the feature event, and finish 15th.

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., WFO Apparel, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2014 season.
