PETERSEN MEDIA- During the final visit of the season in California over the last week, Ian Madsen would have quite the eventful go but still managed to pick up Top-5 on Friday night in Stockton, CA.

“We had a bit of tough luck over the last week,” Ian Madsen said. “Some of it was self inflicted, and some wasn’t but the guys worked extremely hard and we made the best of some tough situations.”

Following a heat race incident on Wednesday night at Placerville Speedway, Madsen would be forced to go into the night’s ‘B’ Main. Winning the ‘B’ on that night, Madsen would do a great job of moving forward on the tight bullring. When the dust settled on the Wednesday night event, Madsen picked up an 11thplace finish.

Friday night the scene shifted to Stockton Dirt Track. With 22 cars on hand, Madsen timed the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 entry in 10thquickest before finishing fourth in his heat race after a near disaster at the start.

Lining up 10thin the feature event, Madsen would take a liking to the bottom groove. Slowly working his way forward, Madsen would continue to pick up positions. Taking advantage of a couple of late restarts, the St. Marys, NSW driver would work into the fifth position where he would go on to finish.

Saturday night brought on the team’s final start of the season in California as they pulled into the famed Calistoga Speedway. Getting the night off to a great start, Madsen would time in third fastest before racing to a heat race win.

By way of the heat win, Madsen moved into the Dash where his draw luck would continue as he found himself with the six pill. Finishing sixth in the Dash, Madsen would grid the field from the third row to start the 25-lap affair.

Madsen would find himself on the short end of the stick on a couple of restarts with guys in front of him getting out of shape and forcing him to check up. Slipping back a few positions, he would go on to take the checkered flag with an 11thplace finish.

“We had speed our entire trip, just didn’t really get any breaks,” Madsen noted. “Was hoping to get our guys another win in California before we left, but we came up a little short.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1  Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
