PETERSEN MEDIA-Princeton, CA product, Mason Moore, was in action at the Marysville Raceway on Friday night for the Civil War Series season opener, and raced his Coors Light/ITC Service Group/LRB Race Products No. 22m machine to an eighth place finish.
“We ended up with a nice Top-10 finish, but were still not where we need to be,” Moore commented.
27 cars checked into the Marysville Raceway on Friday night, and Moore timed his machine in 17th fastest, before racing his way to a fourth place finish in his heat race, to transfer him directly into the evening’s 30-lap feature event.
On a slick a racy surface, Moore would grid the field from the seventh row, and work his way forward as the race played out.
A pair of cautions slowed the race on lap one and lap eight, but the final 22 laps would go non-stop, and feature some exciting wheel-to-wheel action.
Following the lap eight caution, Moore would restart in the 11th position, before getting his elbows up and getting inside the Top-10. Finding himself in a battle with Kenny Allen, Cody Lamar and Dominic Scelzi.
Battling for position late in the race, Moore was also battling with lapped traffic, but was able to work his way to the eighth spot when Ed Entz dropped the checkered flag.
“It was a total team effort,” he added. “We did not time in very well and that hurt us. Fortunately the track was racy in the feature event, and we were able to fight our way forward.”
