PETERSEN MEDIA- Mason Moore would overcome a tough qualifying time trial on Friday night and do a very nice job racing his way forward during Placerville Speedway’s Nor-Cal Posse Shootout that culminated with the Princeton, CA native finishing eighth on Saturday night.

“It was a point format, and time trials really hurt us off the bat,” Moore said. “The guys worked really hard and we had a car that raced well and we made some moves all weekend long and ended up eighth.”

Going out at the end of the time trial session on Friday night, Moore would get all he could out of the Geico/Econo Lube –n- Tune and Brakes/Twisted Tea backed entry as the 39th car on the clock, as he timed in 24th quickest out of the 41 cars entered in the pit area.

In a little bit of an early hole, Moore would advance from sixth to fourth in his heat race but the point total would force him into the Friday night ‘B’. Lining up fifth in the semi, the former Placerville Speedway champion would continue to move forward as he battled up to third which would be good enough to put him in the preliminary night feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 20th starting position, Moore would make the middle work in the opening laps as he worked his way forward on the slick and racy Placerville Speedway surface.

Dipping to the bottom groove, Moore would continue to charge forward as he picked up more valuable points and the Hard Charger award as he came away with a sixth place finish.

Sitting 10th in points following the first night of action, Moore would line up on the front row of his first heat race on Saturday night and pick up the win before going from sixth to third in his second heat race.

Just narrowly missing out on being in the Top-Four in points and having a spot in the shuffle, Moore would find himself in the 10th starting position for the 40-lap finale.

Working his way forward, Moore would get as high as the fifth spot a couple of times in the feature event, but battled in the seventh position for a majority of the race. Having a really strong car, a late restart would hurt Moore a little as he would get shuffled back to eighth where he would end up finishing.

“It was great to come back and run well after finally shaking off some bad luck last week,” Moore said. “We all could have gotten down after a bad time trial draw but we just focused on racing well and we did just that. Again, I have to thank everyone that helped us all weekend.”

Moore would like to thank Geico, Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Twisted Tea, Levin’s Auto Supply, Garth Moore Insurance, LRB Race Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Sierra Single Ply, Lucas Oil, RPI, and Encore Catering for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Moore and the F&F Racing team will be back in action on Friday and Saturday night in Chico, CA as they are set for the Fall Nationals.
