PETERSEN MEDIA- Matt Peterson and his Peterson Racing team were in action on Saturday night with the Civil War Series at the Stockton Dirt Track for one final time in 2015. Though Peterson had great speed in the feature event, issues would prevent him from finishing the race.
“We had really good speed all night long, but we had some mechanical gremlins plague us in the feature event that prevented us from a finish I thought we were capable of,” Matt Peterson said.
Timing the Miller Lite/Inventory Sales Company/Bear Trucking No. p37 machine in seventh fastest, Peterson would line up in the second row of his heat race. On a rough and tumble Stockton Dirt Track, the Wilton, CA driver would pack his right-rear full of mud during his heat, but he was able to fight the vibration and finish in the fourth spot.
Just missing out on the Dash by one spot, Peterson gridded the field from the 10th spot, and quickly raced his into seventh in the running order as fifth, sixth, and seventh place all raced wheel-to-wheel.
Just after the race’s halfway point, Peterson would experience issues that saw him slide off the track and bring out the caution. Restarting as the last car on the lead lap, Peterson would work his way back inside the Top-10 in just a few laps only to have his car start acting up again forcing him to pull off the racing surface.
“It was disappointing to not be able to finish, but it was a fun night of racing overall,” Peterson added. “The entire family was there, as well as a ton of close friends really making it a fun way to close out the season. My dad, and Greg DeCaires really gave me a fast car and I thank them for their hard work.”
