Mechanical Failure Slows Cox In Antioch

PETERSEN MEDIA: Justyn Cox again spent his weekend battling the World of Outlaws as they raced in Chico, CA and Antioch, CA. After finishing 20th on Saturday night during the Mini Gold Cup, Cox had mechanical issues sideline him on Sunday night.

“We have been continuing to run with the World of Outlaws, and to make two more feature events with them is a really good feeling,” Cox said.

Kicking his weekend off on Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway for the Mini Gold Cup, the Clarksburg, CA pilot timed his Berco Berry Redwood Lumber/PM Truck Repair/LRB backed No. 31c machine in 19th fastest.

Starting fifth in his heat race, Cox was able to sneak by Brian Brown to finish in the fourth spot, and transfer directly into the 40-lap feature event. On the extremely slick and abrasive surface, Cox lined up for the feature in the eighth row.

As the action came to life, Cox worked into the 15th spot, before he got his machine off the edge of the track in turns one and two and slipped all the way back to the 26th position. One he got back on the surface, Cox was slowly able to work his way forward, and got as high as the 16th spot as the track began taking rubber. With his car just a tick too snug in the rubber, Cox would slip back a few positions, and end his night with a 20th place finish.

The Antioch Speedway on Sunday night gave drivers a completely opposite track surface than the Silver Dollar Speedway was, and a sticky surface took a while to finally come in, and an early draw saw Cox time in 17th fastest.

Just narrowly missing the heat race inversion, Cox would finish seventh in heat race action before lining up on the front row of the Last Chance Showdown. With Bryan Clauson getting the jump, Cox would settle into the second position, where he would finish, and transfer into the feature event.

Rolling off for the 30-lap finale in the ninth row, Cox would hold his spot during the early portion of the race, until a mechanical failure on the 11th lap, ended his night.

“The 410 stuff is a lot of fun, and I have to thank everyone who continues to help us out, and help me continue to get comfortable,” he added. “I think we will continue to get better with it, and am really looking forward to a couple of races at Placerville Speedway over the next week.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Berry Redwood Lumber, PM Truck Repair, LRB, JRI Shocks, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, Axcel Race Suits, SafRacer.Com, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports,  and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2015!
