Michael Faccinto Nets Third Place Finish at Mark Forni Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Michael Faccinto and the F&F Racing team continued their string of strong runs as the Hanford, CA driver picked up a third-place finish during the 18th running of the Mark Forni Classic.

“We have been so consistent lately, and it makes me want to get this team into victory lane even more so with how hard we have been working,” Michael Faccinto said. “We have been able to do all of the right things lately, and this is a huge testament to these F&F Racing guys.”

With 29 cars on hand Saturday night paying homage to the late Mark Forni who was a pillar in El Dorado County and a friend to many at the speedway, Faccinto opened the night up by timing the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Precision Civil Engineering backed No. X1 in second fastest in time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Faccinto simply needed to transfer to earn a berth in the redraw. Doing just that, his fourth-place finish moved him into the redraw and the two-pill put him on the front row of the 25-lap feature event.

With the surface getting extremely slick as the night moved on, track officials did a complete rework prior to cars pushing off for the 25-lap Mark Forni Classic finale.

Settling into second when the race came to life, Faccinto slipped back to third on the third lap as Colby Copeland was on the move and overtook him for second.

Hooking up in a battle with Shane Hopkins for the final spot on the podium, Faccinto slipped back to fourth before briefly falling back to fifth at the halfway point of the race.

Working around the Placerville Speedway bullring, Faccinto was able to move back into fourth on the 17th lap before getting back in a podium spot on the 18th lap.

Closing in on second running Copeland in the final stanzas of the feature event, Faccinto was unable to make a move for second and capped his night with a third place finish.

“Scott did a nice job reworking the track, I just wish it got to how it was in those final laps a little sooner in the race,” Faccinto added. “I hope we can keep this speed up during the final point races and keep us in the hunt for that illusive win.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Precision Civil Engineering, Roseville Precision, Lucas Oil, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Sacramento Battery Company, PitStopUSA, FVP, CRV Carbon Solutions, American River Overhead Door, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.

ON TAP: F&F Racing and Michael Faccinto return to action at Placerville Speedway Saturday night.
