Mid-Race Wreck Ends Kalib Henry’s Cotton Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA: Fresh off of the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals triumph, Kalib Henry and the McColloch Motorsports team linked back up with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Friday night in Hanford, CA where a mid-race accident would end the team’s Cotton Classic early.

“Friday night was an interesting night,” Henry said. “We ended up running the Chili Bowl format with the track having timing issues, and we actually raced really well in our heat and qualifier.”

With timing issues at the track forcing SCCT officials to go to a ‘draw’ show Chili Bowl format, the Mather, CA driver would line up fifth in the first heat race of the night.

Able to race the McColloch’s RV Repair/Davis Truck Painting/Driven Homes, Inc. backed No. 17 to a third-place finish, Henry would move into a qualifier where he took the green flag from the third starting position.

Looking to gain as many points as possible to give himself a better feature event starting position, Henry would finish third and find himself in the fourth row of the 30-lap Cotton Classic feature event.

Working his way forward in the early goings of the feature, a lap 12 restart would prove detrimental to Henry and the McColloch Motorsports team. When the race went green, contact to Henry’s machine would ensue causing too much damage for the team to repair in the work area, and it would bring Henry’s night to an end.

“It was an unfortunate way for our night to end,” Henry said. “These guys all work really hard on this car, and it is a shame we tore some equipment up. Thankful for the opportunity, and looking forward to finale race together for the year in Stockton in a few weeks.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Davis Truck Painting, Driven Homes, Inc., ART Speed Equipment, RE Technologies, Hansen Machine, ADCO Driveline, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 14, Wins: 1, Top-5’s: 6, Top-10’s- 8
