PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh in town following a family trip, Mason Moore would lead all 25 laps at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night en route to his first win of the 2017 season.

“It was a needed little get away with my family, but it felt good to get back home and to get racing,” Moore said. “We have had a fast F&F Racing car all season long, and I am happy to get a win for this team.”

Timing the Geico/Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Twisted Team No. x1 machine in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials, Moore would line up in the second row of his heat race.

Needing to win to make himself eligible for the draw, Moore would get his elbows up as he tip-toed around the slippery surface to grab the win. Getting a spot in the draw, Moore would have a little luck on his side as the one pill placed him on the pole of the 25-lap affair.

When the race got underway, Moore led the way on the bottom of the speedway as the low groove proved to be the place to be. As laps clicked off, Moore would continue keep perennial Placerville Speedway favorites, Greg DeCaires and Andy Forsberg at bay as he rode the bottom to perfection.

As Moore continued to stretch out his lead, the action behind him would pick up as drivers did what they could to track him down. With six-laps to go, Moore would face his biggest challenge in Andy Forsberg. With Forsberg making the top work, Moore would change his line a little in hopes of keeping his competitor at bay.

The result would be Moore and Forsberg banging wheels, with Moore staying out front and Forsberg falling back. Able to keep his composure the final six laps, Moore would hang on for his first win of the season.

“We set a pretty good pace all night long on the bottom, but late in the race Forsberg got the top working” Moore said. “I tried to slide myself to keep him behind me but he was already up there and we touched. It was shaping up to get exciting, but fortunately we were able to hang on and win.”

Moore would like to thank Geico, Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Twisted Tea, Levin’s Auto Supply, Garth Moore Insurance, LRB Race Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Sierra Single Ply, Lucas Oil, RPI, and Encore Catering for their support in 2017.
