PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto took to the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night with the King of the West Series, and after starting his night off well, Netto’s night would end with an 11th place finish in the feature event.
“Our night started off really well in time trials, but as the track slicked off through the night, we seemed to be on top of the track sliding, and not making any speed,” DJ Netto explained.
With 22 cars on hand, Netto showed very good speed in the early goings of the night as he timed his Netto Agriculture/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts entry in second fastest.
Just needing to get through his heat to make the dash, Netto would finish in the fourth spot, before pulling a seven pill in the dash draw.
Starting in the seventh spot of the 30-lap feature by way of his seventh place dash finish, Netto could not get moving forward during the feature event, as he ran inside the Top-10 during most of the race.
Running eighth during a caution, Netto adjusted his wing in hopes of getting more grip to his rear tires, but the result was Netto sliding up the race track loosing valuable track position, as he lost numerous spots.
Getting back on to the racing surface, Netto got his elbows up as he was able to rally back to an 11th place finish.
“I didn’t feel like I was down making any grip, so I tried some stuff under a caution, and it just did not work out for us,” he explained. “It was just one of those nights. We had really good speed early, but we just missed it with it slicking off so much.”
