Peterson Charges To Fourth During Silver Cup Finale

3-7-15-2063

PETERSEN MEDIA- During his first race weekend of the year, Matt Peterson can sit back and smile. Teaming up with Brian Cannon for the 2015 season, Peterson showed speed during both nights of action culminating with a fourth place finish during Saturday night’s finale.

“It was really nice to work with my new crew chief, Brian Cannon, and click so well,” Peterson said. “We had a top-five cars both nights, but we had some bad luck on Friday night, but we are all excited with how the season started.”

Saturday night saw Peterson time the Miller Lite/V&H Fresh/Inventory Sales No. p37 in 15th fastest, before driving away from the field in his heat race to pick up the win and qualify for the redraw.

Pulling the dreaded eight pill, Peterson would roll off in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event on what was a very tricky racing surface.

Not letting the starting position bother him too much, Peterson got off to a nice start as he broke into the top five by the third lap.

Battling with Seth Bergman and Craig Stidham, Peterson found himself in the third spot, and in hot pursuit of Tim Kaeding.

As the race reached the halfway point, Peterson and Kaeding hooked up in an entering battle as they swapped the second spot for a number of laps, with Peterson slipping back as far as fifth in the waning laps.

A restart with just four laps to go saw ‘Miller Time’ come to life as he rocketed into the third spot, chasing after Kaeding and Bergman, though he felt pressure from Sean Becker.

The last lap saw Becker sneak around Peterson, as he crossed the stripe with a fourth place finish.

“That was a fun race, and I had such a blast battling with one of my childhood heroes, Tim Kaeding,” Peterson added.

Friday night saw Peterson time in eighth fastest, before getting upside down in his heat race.

Finishing second in the B main, Peterson would transfer into the feature event as he lined up in the 10th starting spot.

Working his way forward, Peterson got up into the fifth spot, and as the laps clicked off, he began fighting steering issues.

On the last lap, his steering finally locked up, but he was able to finish, though he would slip back to eighth at the stripe.

“It was an awesome start to our season,” Peterson said. “It felt good to get back in the car, and I cannot wait to get back in the car. I have to thank my family, and everyone for their continued help and support.”

Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, Vahlco Wheels, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2015.
